Questions we get asked most often about our hemp, how we grow it, and how ordering works. If yours is not here, get in touch and we will answer it.

What is THCA flower?

THCA is the acid form of THC that occurs naturally in the living hemp plant. It converts to THC when heat is applied, which is why THCA flower is tested and sold on the basis of its delta-9 THC content in its raw state. Everything we grow is tested to confirm it comes in under the federal 0.3% delta-9 THC limit on a dry weight basis.

Is your hemp legal?

Our hemp is grown under the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 (the Farm Bill) and every batch is third-party tested to confirm it contains no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC on a dry weight basis. State and local laws vary and they change, so please check the rules where you live before ordering. You must be 21 or older to buy THCA products from us.

Will THCA show up on a drug test?

Very likely, yes. Hemp-derived products can contain trace amounts of delta-9 THC, and THCA converts to THC when heated. If you are subject to drug testing for work or any other reason, we would not recommend using these products.

Where is your hemp grown?

On Otherside Farm, our own land in the mountains just outside Asheville, North Carolina. We are a working farm, not a reseller. We plant it, grow it, harvest it and cure it ourselves, across indoor, greenhouse and outdoor grows.

What does hand-trimmed and long-cured actually mean?

Most flower at scale is machine-bucked, which is faster but bruises the buds and knocks off trichomes. We trim by hand instead. Long-curing means we take our time drying and curing each batch rather than rushing it to market, which is where flavour and smoothness come from.

Are your products lab tested? Where can I see the results?

Every batch is tested by a third-party lab. The certificate of analysis for each strain is linked directly on its product page, and our full library of current results lives on the Certificates of Analysis page.

Why is the strain I wanted sold out?

We grow in small batches rather than continuous supply, so strains rotate through the year and some are seasonal or one-time grows. When a strain sells out the page stays up so you can still look up its genetics, terpenes and lab results. Our Strain Library has every cultivar we have grown, in stock or not.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

We ship within the United States and standard shipping is free on orders over $100. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for delivery. We are currently unable to ship to Alabama, New Jersey, Tennessee or Washington, DC, and orders to those addresses cannot be completed at checkout. State and local laws vary on hemp products, so please confirm you can legally receive them where you live.

What is your return policy?

You can return new, unused and unopened products within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, minus shipping both ways. If we made the mistake, if an item arrives incorrect, defective or damaged, we cover the full refund including shipping, or we will exchange it at no cost to you. Do you sell wholesale or private label?

What is CBD?

CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of over 60 active chemical compounds (or ‘cannabinoids’) in the marijuana plant. It is typically the second-most abundant cannabinoid, behind THC.

Does CBD come from marijuana or hemp? What's the difference?

Marijuana and hemp are two different varieties of cannabis that come from the same species of plant (Cannabis sativa L). In general, CBD is found abundantly in both. However, it’s important to note that CBD is typically found in the seeds and stem of marijuana - not in the flowering buds (which is the part that you smoke). The hemp plant is an entirely different strain of cannabis that contains high quantities of CBD throughout (stem, buds, etc), and practically zero traces of THC. If a hemp plant contains more than 0.3% THC, it is then technically a “marijuana” plant. Most all CBD-based products come from the industrial hemp plant.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

THC affects the brain by binding to naturally-occurring CB-1 receptors in the central nervous system. CBD is a differently-shaped molecule that binds to CB-2 receptors in cell and body tissues outside the central nervous system.

Will CBD get me high?

No, CBD will not get you high. It's non-intoxicating. THC is the molecule that binds to receptors in our brain and is the one responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana. In fact, CBD is antagonistic to the marijuana high; some research expresses its potential to prevent THC molecules from binding to the brain’s receptors (hence the reason why it’s often used to subdue the ‘paranoia’ effects of super-potent THC strains).

How do I take CBD?

Most CBD products are taken orally. Drops of CBD oil can be placed under the tongue and held for 60 seconds before swallowing. Topical creams and ointments are also effective, as is smoking or vaporizing CBD-rich hemp strains like BaOx or Sour Space Candy.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD oil is an extract from the whole hemp plant blended with a carrier oil for medicinal consumption.

How does CBD work?

CBD functions by binding to cannabinoid receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system. These receptors have been found in virtually every cell and tissue type in the human body (hence the seemingly endless array of CBD uses).

Is CBD legal?

Yes.

Is CBD natural?

Yes, CBD is a 100% naturally-occurring chemical compound that comes directly from the cannabis plant. It is not synthetically made.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

A high-quality CBD product with minimal THC is incredibly unlikely to show up on a drug test. However, low quality CBD products may contain more traces of THC than they claim, in which case it is possible for a screening to pick up on the drug. (Research has shown that people who consume 6 mg of THC per day have a 25% chance of failing a drug test. This translates to about 2,000 mg per day of CBD oil with a THC content of 0.3% or less).

How do I know how much CBD to take?

This one is tricky because it, of course, depends on what you’re using the compound for, and also on how strong the product is. Most people consume between 10-50 mg of CBD per day total. (For reference, 1 mL of a potent oil might contain 50 mg of CBD. Make sure you read the label on your product to ensure a proper serving.
